What We Love: 5 Things I Love About The Empire Strikes Back

The Empire Strikes Back is such a classic, and a very popular favorite. I love this movie a lot, and here are just five things that I especially really like about this film.

1. Battle of Hoth

The Battle of Hoth is so iconic, and rightfully so. It has amazing visuals, and the music accompanying it is just awesome. I can definitely hear the heavy piano notes in my head without listening to it at all. It's so cool to see the AT-ATs stomping across the snow and watching the snowspeeders rush out to trip them. It's always a great time to watch.

2. Lando and Cloud City

I always love going to Cloud City in this movie, especially because we get to see Lando. Billy Dee Williams' suave confidence is always so fun, and I love the tense relationship he has with Han- especially now that we have the context of Solo. I'm definitely a Lando fando, and The Empire Strikes Back is a pretty great movie for him, and probably his most iconic.

3. Chewbacca & C-3PO

One dynamic that gets some extra light in this movie is Chewbacca and C-3PO. Chewbacca is the one that discovers, carries and repairs C-3PO after his ambush by stormtroopers, and the care that Chewie has for him juxtaposed with C-3PO's typical sour attitude and sassy banter make for an interesting pair. Their scenes together can be just as endearing as they are hilarious, and I love every minute of it.

4. Darth Vader

Darth Vader just rocks the screen no matter what he's in, and The Empire Strikes Back is far from an exception. He's darkly intimidating in this movie, and of course has his iconic "I am your father" speech. It's a great Vader movie, and he really steals the show here.

5. Yoda

Last but ABSOLUTELY not least is meeting Yoda. Yoda is probably my favorite part of this movie generally, and my favorite part of his scenes is when he's acting like a little madman when he first meets Luke. It's so funny and gets me every time, especially with how expressive the face of the puppet is. Plus it makes me think of seagulls, which definitely helps with the humor of it all.

Those are just some things I especially love about The Empire Strikes Back, but there are many more things to appreciate. What are some of your favorites?
