It's Women's History Month, and to celebrate we'll be highlighting some of the important female characters and creatives that bring us the galaxy far, far away. Today we'll be covering one of my favorite Jedi and characters in Phase II of the High Republic, Silandra Sho!

Silandra is a very special Jedi, and not just because she is a good one- though she is in fact, a very good one. She forms a very strong bond with her padawan, Rooper Nitani, though she also knows when it's good to let Rooper have some breathing room of her own and go on her own adventures. She's also a picture of what the compassion of a Jedi should be. She will stop what she's doing to save any life- even if that life is the leader of the anti-Jedi cult, the Path of the Open Hand.
But what makes Silandra most clearly stand out is her shield! In addition to her lightsaber, Silandra carries an ancient shield. It's a reminder to herself and others that to be the best protectors of peace and light, Jedi must be a shield to others. Of course, the shield itself is a useful too as well, and Silandra passes it along to her padawan when Rooper passes her trials.
You can read all about Silandra in Phase II of the High Republic, and even listen to her in the Battle of Jedha audiodrama!
