Highlighting Black Creatives in a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Steven Barnes

As Black History Month continues we continue to celebrate the Black characters and creatives that make the galaxy far, far away so great. Today we're celebrating an excellent member of the Star Wars writing crew, Steven Barnes!

Some Star Wars fans will know Steven Barnes from the recent from last year's novel, The Glass Abyss. The Glass Abyss tells a thrilling tale about Mace Windu after the events of The Phantom Menace on an entirely original and wonderfully weird planet. We see Mace put to the test and learn so much about who he is- and he learns too.

But while The Glass Abyss was Barnes' first canon novel, it's not the first time he's written Star Wars. He's written about Star Wars in Star Wars Saved My Life, and he wrote the Legends novel The Cestus Deception.

Now of course, Star Wars isn't all that Barnes writes. He's written episodes of 2020's The Twilight Zone, Stargate SG-1, and The Outer Limits. He's also written many of his own books and short stories as well. Steven Barnes has a prolific career, and we're very lucky that he is also passionate enough about Star Wars to write such incredible additions to the galaxy.
