Highlighting Black Characters in a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Vail Tormin

As we get ready to close out Black History Month, we're spotlighting one more Black character in the Star Wars galaxy- Vail Tormin, from last year's video game Star Wars Outlaws!

Vail starts out as a formidable opponent, a bounty hunter hired to hunt down the players as Kay Vess. And not just any bounty hunter- but one of the best that the Outer Rim has to offer. Facing off with her is never easy, but Kay manages to escape every time (usually with the help of ND-5).

But that's not where the relationship between Kay and Vail ends. On Tatooine, we begin to see another side of Vail. Forced to work with Kay to escape the Rancor, the two women slowly form a friendship throughout the rest of the game. After this, we see her personality shine- even though she's a pretty "straight to the point" person, Vail does have a sense of humor. She has sense of justice and right and wrong, especially when it comes to being betrayed, and she's compassionate, though she doesn't always show it.

Vail's character is always a joy to spend time with, and definitely one I want to see more of. Who knows- maybe a Vail comic, book, or sequel to Outlaws is in our future!
